5 Unforgettable Things to Do in
St Lucia 🇱🇨
St Lucia is a super tiny island in the Caribbean but bursting with culture, energy, things to do and some of the Earth's best scenery. We visited St Lucia in August 2025 and it was absolutely spectacular.

When to visit: they say the rainy season comes in the summer months and therefore the best time to visit is November-February. However, we visited in August and it was fantastic, cheaper and much quieter. Hardly any rain.

How to get around
St Lucia is extremely safe and as a tourist, you're welcome to use buses, taxis and rent a car. Saying that, as with any country, it's vital you have your wits about you.
Renting a car: you can rent a car from the airport and they drive on the left, like the UK.
If you're in a hotel, they can call a taxi for you for a good price.
Let's get into it!

Swim by the Pitons at Sugar Beach
The Pitons are absolutely iconic and absolutely what St Lucia is known for. You can hike the pitons with a local guide or even run up them if you're crazy. However, there are some beautiful reefs right by the pitons with insane fish, that a swim at Sugar Beach is absolutely fundamental.

If you visit Sugar Beach on a boat trip/organised tour, then it will be free to access. However, if you're driving here, you may need to park in a local hotel and pay a fee to access the beach. Some hotels are happy for you to park and then spend the day on the beach, provided you have some lunch.

Sulphur Springs
St Lucia is known for its natural geothermal sulphur springs in the Soufrière part of the island. You can visit these springs, cover yourself in mud, sit in the hot hot hot sulphur water and enjoy the elixir! St Lucians believe that bathing in these springs is what keeps you young.

Take a boat trip
The scenery around the island of St Lucia is absolutely stunning. You could take a speed boat trip around the whole island in a few hours and stop off for some swimming. We took a boat from the north of the island down to the Pitons to swim at Sugar Beach and it was just incredible.

BOAT TRIP
Explore the Castries
The Castries is the capital of St Lucia and is full of markets and bustling culture. By all means, it is not a big city with very much to do but all the same, it is a central hub on the island and there is a lot to explore.

Toraille Waterfall
This natural waterfall is a great spot to spend an hour or so, listening to nature and getting in the water to feel the benefits of the fast falling water.

Where to stay on the island
Most people who travel to St Lucia come for the sun and prefer to spend their time in a resort. This is exactly the experience we wanted from St Lucia too and enjoyed 10 days in an all-inclusive adults-only resort - Stolen Time. Click here for our review of the hotel and experience.
