Visiting Gouda, the birth place of the Gouda cheese, is an awesome experience. Not only can you learn all about the origins and the history of the cheese but it is also a super cute town here in the Netherlands. In this guide, we take you through how to visit Gouda and what there is to do.

GOUDA CHEESE EXPERIENCE
Travelling to Gouda
From Amsterdam: You can either take a direct train to Gouda from Amsterdam in 51 minutes, or take two trains from Amsterdam to Utrecht and then Utrecht to Gouda in 50 minutes too.

From Utrecht: Take the Sprinter train from Utrecht Centraal to Gouda in 18 minutes. There is a train every 10 minutes.
​
From The Hague: Take the Intercity train from Den Haag Centraal to Gouda in 18 minutes. There is a train every 30 minutes.
​
From Rotterdam: Take the Intercity train from Rotterdam to Gouda in 18 minutes. There is a train every 15 minutes.
​
​You can arrive at the train station and purchase a ticket or just tap your debit card on and off the trains.

If you're arriving by car, there is a car park outside of the library. There are not many spots and can imagine it gets busy on weekdays. It is usually quiet and free on Sundays.

The best experience in Gouda is for sure the Gouda Cheese Experience. It is not just a museum about cheese, it is extremely interactive and entertained us four adults for 90 minutes straight. You also get to taste the different types cheese at the end!

The Gouda city centre is beautiful with some unique buildings such as the Stadhuis.

It is a small town so there is definitely not much to do but it makes for an excellent day trip.
